Meditation and Place

An explorative written piece on how meditation and our relationship to the surrounding environment impacts our state of mind

Meditation and Place

An essay written in early 2012. The full text may be read via the issuu embed on this page.

'Meditation and the surrounding environment are linked together via a multitude of means. Religious connotations aside, meditation has become increasingly relevant in modern society where high levels of stress and unsympathetic suburban surroundings have become the norm for many.

Due to  rapidly increasing populations and the rise of the 'megacity', many individuals are at risk of becoming detached from natural environments and reality. In future years there will be an increased need for contemplative spaces, which engage the senses, within the built environment.'
